Where I Am Coming From

This blog is coming from a sort of antinomian perspective; at least insofar as it can be characterized. I see that as a Tolstoy compassionate anarchist approach to the world.

For me, that means that steps along the way to utopia are needed. In fact, utopia might never be reached. Probably won't be. Should we give up then? No.

OK, so you want something a little more specific? How about this? In many issues, I take a progressive left point of view. I haven't always been there. I was a sort of right wing anarchist for years; following in the steps of Lysander Spooner, whose viewpoints I still value. It follows that I know about Ayn Rand, Milton Friedman and such folk. My disgust for tea party people takes into consideration those points of view. Flaming, right wing, nationalistic, racist, bourgeois politics are not a part of my world. But yes, I do have friends who flirt with tea partyism. Not, of course, the foul ornaments many espouse.

That's a start, except for this. I voted in the last election for the first time in well over 30 years. I voted for Obama because I believed in many of his compassionate ideas. I am extremely disappointed in what he has done.
