Work In Progress

A friend said I was denying my hatred of right wingers. I told him I didn’t hate anyone. He said I did and it was therapeutic to express it. So I am giving it a try.

Republican Tea-Partyists are arrogant, gun-crazy, ammo-hoarding, Palin-fapping, fundie-freakazoid, Civil War II conspiring, militia member, Dittohead-nodding, liberal-hating, tinfoil-hat wearing, poverty-promoting, corporate-capitalist-ass-kissing, anti-labor/union bashing, job-killing, ultra-wealthy tax-cutting, drill-baby-drilling, climate-change denying, POTUS-threatening, PayPorn watching, Bircher, Randian philosophy-spouting, anti-abortion, POW-torturing, same-sex-marriage denying, xenophobic, deranged male-page-seducing, clueless hate-spewing troglodyte, brainless gay-hooker-patronizing, incompetent World War III-agitating, child hating, anti-education, revisionist, gasbag, World War III-agitating, Tea Party racist, Limbaugh-McCarthyite with delusions of adequacy.

Gee, I feel better already.

(Pardon the lack of parallel grammar Also I stole some of the hatred from somewhere, but can’t remember where.)

Disappointment III

I am going to post two links critical of Obama. I can't even begin to keep track of the things that bombard me daily and increase my disappointment in the Prez.

The first one is Ed Schultz, a progressive Democratic and big Obama booster facing the music. It's at http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/07/ed-schultz-slams-white-house-as-afraid-of-fox-news-video.php#more

The second one is the situation with a military bill vs. spending on education. This one is truly sad. Find that at http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0710/40137.html

Obama Disappointments II

Health Care

Alright, I admit it, this blog is pretty subjective. Actually, most of them are I suppose. Heck, my life is.

OK, I agree, the Republican government by "No" is disgusting. Of course I wanted the health care bill to pass, as absurdly watered down as it was. I didn't want that so much because I thought the bill would do much for anyone, but because I wanted a pie in the face of Republicans, even if it was a tiny pie.

And, what do we get for a health care bill? Dilution, pollution to the max. Has ANYONE benefited from this bill? I certainly don't know anyone. Will anyone EVER benefit from this bill? I doubt it.

Meanwhile, millions of poor people are dying and suffering while this bill does nothing. Absolutely nothing for anyone.

And the Tea Partiers say suffa sucka. Die sukka. We don't care.

Thanks Tea Party. Thanks Mr Prez.

Obama's Disappointments

Immigration

I am not going to be long winded here. I may make this into a couple of shorter blogs.

So let's talk about one of my big personal disappointments in Obama; that is immigration.

There is a very small way in which I might be considered as having an axe to grind. Let me get that out of the way first. I am speaking about my son's mother (we are divorced and I am a single dad). We are on pretty good terms. She has a 10 year unlimited entry visa and can come and go as often as she pleases, but, and this is a huge but; she can only stay six months at a time. If she leaves before six months, she can have her passport stamped and turn around and come back. Absurd. Expensive. My point here is this, those who do things legally are made to pay the price, usually literally. What's up with that? It only encourages illegal immigration.

Now what about Obama? He is not really in favor of helping immigrants. He is just in favor of keeping them out a different way; that is through stronger border protection. That is also expensive and a waste of money, just like the other two wars he is waging; and yes, he sees immigration issues as a war just like the right wing.

When anti-immigration people talk about the perceived problem, they usually talk about national security. I can't tell you how many times in my life I have heard pols hide behind that phrase. (My first memory of it is from Lyndon Johnson.)

The truth is, they don't mean national security at all. If someone wants to get into this country, they will. Even a "Great Wall of America" isn't going to keep them out. What these people are talking about for the most most part is Mexicans. The immigration policies proposed and even already in place are racist, plain and simple.

They are also fool hardy economically and reflect a profound lack of understanding about the USA. That is, these people don't know where their food comes from.

Have you ever worked in the fields with Mexican workers? I have. It is beyond difficult and it is done for zippo in remuneration and even less in benefits (which are nil). 99% of Americans won't and can't do it. (Check out this article: http://money.cnn.com/2010/07/07/news/economy/farm_worker_jobs/index.htm?hpt=T2)

What do I propose? Open the borders and make immigration a lot more simple. This will save vast sums of money, keep food at a reasonable price and give the disadvantaged a chance in life; a chance like our ancestors had.)

More on Obama later.

Where I Am Coming From

This blog is coming from a sort of antinomian perspective; at least insofar as it can be characterized. I see that as a Tolstoy compassionate anarchist approach to the world.

For me, that means that steps along the way to utopia are needed. In fact, utopia might never be reached. Probably won't be. Should we give up then? No.

OK, so you want something a little more specific? How about this? In many issues, I take a progressive left point of view. I haven't always been there. I was a sort of right wing anarchist for years; following in the steps of Lysander Spooner, whose viewpoints I still value. It follows that I know about Ayn Rand, Milton Friedman and such folk. My disgust for tea party people takes into consideration those points of view. Flaming, right wing, nationalistic, racist, bourgeois politics are not a part of my world. But yes, I do have friends who flirt with tea partyism. Not, of course, the foul ornaments many espouse.

That's a start, except for this. I voted in the last election for the first time in well over 30 years. I voted for Obama because I believed in many of his compassionate ideas. I am extremely disappointed in what he has done.
